Deputy Consul General Cheng Hongbo Attends an International Forum on Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War
On May 10, Deputy Consul General Cheng Hongbo attended an International Forum organized by the Chinese community in the consular district to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Deputy Consul General Cheng emphasized that the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was an integral part of the World Anti-Fascist War. Under the banner of the national united front against Japanese aggression advocated by the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people made a significant contribution to the global victory over fascism. He underlined that history is the best textbook and a powerful reminder, calling for the promotion of a correct view of World War II history, the firm rejection of historical nihilism, and the defense of the post-war international order and global fairness and justice. He encouraged overseas Chinese in the consular district to carry forward the national spirit and deep love for the motherland, to continue supporting China’s complete reunification and national rejuvenation, and to make unique contributions, as overseas Chinese, to the advancement of global peace and development.
The forum was co-hosted by the Hong Maple Foundation and the Association of the Descendants of Huangpu Alumni of Canada, under the theme "Remembering History, Building the Future." Nearly 100 representatives from political, academic, and overseas Chinese communities in China, Canada, the United States, among other regions attended the event online.
