On May 21, Consul General Luo Weidong attended the Eye-dotting Ceremony of the 38th Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival (TIDBRF) and delivered remarks. Representatives from the Canadian government, the China National Tourist Office in Toronto, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto), the Toronto Chinese Business Association (TCBA), sponsors, and media participated.

Consul General Luo stated that dragon boat racing is an iconic folk activity of the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, embodying the spirit of unity, cooperation, and the concept of sharing. Thanks to the efforts by the TCBA and supporters from all walks of life over the past years, TIDBRF has become one of the largest dragon boat events in North America, offering the opportunity for tens of thousands of people to experience the charm of Chinese culture, showcasing the cultural diversity of Canada, and enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the people of China and Canada.

TIDBRF was founded in 1989 by the TCBA. This year's festival will be held from June 13th to 14th on Toronto Centre Island, with an expected participation of over 100 dragon boat teams from around the world. The Consulate General and the Tourist Office will also set up a Chinese culture and tourism exhibition area and "Tea For Hamony" tea culture booth.
