Consul General Luo Weidong Attends the First Toronto LANTING Chinese Calligraphy Culture Salon
On April 19, Consul General Luo Weidong attended the First Toronto LANTING Chinese Calligraphy Culture Salon and delivered remarks. Richmond Hill City Councillor Simon Cui along with calligraphy artists, guzheng players, and other guests from various sectors participated in the event.

Consul General Luo stated that the Double Third Festival (Shangsi Festival), observed on the third day of the third month of the Chinese calendar, is an ancient Chinese celebration for spring outings, poetic expression, and social gatherings. Centered on Chinese calligraphy, the LANTING Culture Salon showcases the aesthetic sensibilities and philosophical ideals of the Chinese people. It not only carries forward the rich traditions of Chinese culture, but also serves as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and Canada.

The LANTING Chinese Calligraphy Culture Salon is a global cultural event initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China. This was held in Toronto for the first time, co-hosted by the Consulate General and the China National Tourist Office in Toronto, and organized by the Guofengguan Cultural and Arts Centre. Guests and calligraphers jointly wrote the "Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion," and there were also appreciation and discussion of calligraphy works, as well as recitations and traditional Chinese music performances.
