On January 4, Consul General Luo Weidong attended the 2026 "Happy Chinese New Year" East-Meets-West Concert of Favourite Classics held by the Li Delun Music Foundation at the Meridian Arts Centre. Guests from all walks of life attended the event and watched the performance with nearly a thousand audiences.

The concert, conducted by Yong-yan HU, featured the Toronto Festival Orchestra and numerous musicians from around the world, blending classic and distinctive pieces from both Chinese and Western cultures. The imagery of the zodiac animal "Horse" permeated the entire concert. It also continued the theme of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, performing pieces such as "Defend the Yellow River," which won enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Founded in 2003, the East-Meets-West Concert of Favourite Classics is a signature New Year's cultural event in the Greater Toronto Area. This concert is also the first event in the 2026 Toronto "Happy Chinese New Year" series.
