On December 16, Consul General Luo Weidong attended the Toronto premiere of the original Chinese dance drama Wing Chun at the Meridian Hall and delivered remarks at the premiere reception and Shenzhen promotion event. Guests from all walks of life attended the event and watched the performance with over a thousand audience members.

Consul General Luo stated that cultural exchange has been an important bond in the 55 years since the establishment of diplom atic relations between China and Canada. He hoped that the residency of Wing Chun would allow local audiences to experience the essence of traditional Chinese culture and the charm of contemporary Chinese culture, injecting new vitality into Canada's multiculturalism and further promoting the continued growth of people-to-people exchanges between China and Canada through the resonance of culture and art.

The dance drama Wing Chun will have a 20-performance residency in Toronto, from December 16 to January 4. The dance drama combines two national intangible cultural heritages, Wing Chun and Xiangyun yarn, and uses a dual-narrative approach for innovative expression. Since its premiere in Shenzhen in 2022, it has toured nearly 300 times around the world.
