On April 26th, the second "World Tai Chi Day" event in Toronto, initiated and supported by our Consulate General, was held at the Wangfujing Sports Center in Markham. Consul General Luo Weidong attended and delivered a speech.

Consul General Luo Weidong stated that Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese martial art, and it is not only a pearl of Chinese culture but also a treasure of world culture. Nowadays, Tai Chi has taken root in Canada. This event has received a warm response from Tai Chi enthusiasts, with more participants and teams than last year. The Consulate General hope that more local friends will join in practicing Tai Chi, making Tai Chi a bridge for sports and cultural exchanges between China and Canada and a bond to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.

In this "World Tai Chi Day" event in Toronto, more than 300 Tai Chi practitioners from nearly 20 martial arts and community groups within the consular district of our Consulate General participated in the performance. The number of participating groups and individuals increased compared to last year. The forms of the performance were diverse, including magnificent group performances and characteristic displays such as competitive Tai Chi, paired Tai Chi, and Tai Chi fan. The moves combined hardness and softness, and the atmosphere at the scene was enthusiastic. This event provided an excellent platform for Tai Chi enthusiasts to showcase and exchange their skills and also enriched the local multiculturalism.

On April 27th, the first "Toronto World Tai Chi Day - Seminar for Team Leaders and Coaches" was successfully held at the Wayland Li Martial Arts Centre. As an important part of the second "World Tai Chi Day" event in Toronto, this seminar was initiated and supported by the Consulate General of China in Toronto, hosted by the Wayland Li Martial Arts Centre, and co-organized by the China National Tourist Office in Toronto. More than 30 team leaders and coaches from Tai Chi training schools and community training teams in the Toronto area participated in the seminar on that day. During the thematic discussion session, masters from various institutions actively contributed their ideas.

Since 1999, on the last Saturday of April every year, Tai Chi enthusiasts around the world spontaneously organize activities, performing Tai Chi and exchanging skills to celebrate "World Tai Chi Day". This is the second time that Toronto has held the "World Tai Chi Day" event. It was initiated and supported by the Consulate General of China in Toronto, with the Wushu Ontario as the organizer, and dozens of local martial arts groups, community groups, enterprises, media, and other institutions participating.
