On February 21, Consul General Luo Weidong attended the Guo Feng Guan Chinese New Year Celebration held at the Arts and Letter Club and delivered remarks. Approximately 100 guests were in attendance, including Member of Parliament Michael Ma and other political and community representatives.

Consul General Luo noted that the event allowed guests from diverse backgrounds to immerse themselves in the unique charm of the Chinese New Year, while also adding vibrant colors to Toronto’s multicultural landscape. He highlighted that Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent successful visit to China has injected new momentum into exchanges and cooperation across various fields between China and Canada. In addition, China’s visa-free policy for the Canadian has made cross-Pacific exchanges more accessible than ever.

The event was part of the 2026 Toronto “Happy Chinese New Year” series. The event featured traditional Chinese cultural experiences such as tea art and incense appreciation, as well as performances including Peking Opera and instrumental ensemble pieces.
