On February 16th, Consul General Luo Weidong attended the 2026 Toronto Youth Ice Fusion Spring Festival Gala and delivered remarks. About 1500 guests and audiences, including Canadian three-level political representatives attended the event.

Consul General Luo stated that the Ice Spring Festival Gala integrates Chinese festive culture with winter sports, building a platform for cultural and sports exchanges between China and Canada. This year's Spring Festival coincides with the Winter Olympics, and he expressed his hope that young people from both countries would use winter sports as a medium to inherit and promote China-Canadian friendship. He also noted that Prime Minister Carney's recent successful visit to China has facilitated the building of a new strategic partnership between the two countries. Starting February 17, China has implemented visa-free policy for Canadians, and he welcomed Canadian friends to visit China and experience a comprehensive and authentic China.

This event is part of the 2026 Toronto "Happy Chinese New Year" series, jointly organized by the Canada China Sports and Culture Exchange Center and the China National Tourist Office in Toronto. In addition to ice performances and ice hockey games, the event also featured a Chinese tourism photo exhibition and several booths showcasing Chinese culture and tourism.
