On October 30, Acting Consul General Cheng Hongbo attended the awards ceremony of the 8th Global Chinese Recitation Competition of Toronto regional round. The event was organized by the Chinese Culture and Education Society of Canada, with more than 100 participants including representatives from the Toronto District School Board as well as teachers, students, and contestants from Chinese schools across the consular district.

Acting Consul General Cheng congratulated the award-winning students and expressed appreciation to the organizers, teachers, and parents for their dedicated efforts. He noted that overseas Chinese-language education is fundamental in preserving cultural heritage and strengthening cultural and ethnic identity among overseas Chinese communities. Over the years, the Global Chinese Recitation Competition has become an effective platform for promoting cultural exchange between China and other countries and fostering people-to-people friendship. Chinese Consulate General has always supported and cared deeply about Chinese-language education in the consular district. Acting Consul General Cheng encouraged Chinese-Canadian youth to continue their commitment to learning Chinese, to become inheritors of Chinese culture, and to play an active role in promoting friendship between China and Canada.

Global Chinese Recitation Competition, organized by Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China, aims to provide overseas Chinese youth with an important platform to showcase their Chinese-language abilities and carry forward Chinese culture. Since its launch in 2018, the competition has been held for eight editions and has attracted the participation of tens of thousands of Chinese-heritage students worldwide.
