On July 12, Deputy Consul General Cheng Hongbo attended the opening ceremony of the China-India Pavilion at the Carabram Festival 2025. The event was attended by hundreds of people, including representatives from the federal, provincial, and municipal governments of Canada, as well as members of the local Chinese and Indian communities.

In his speech, Deputy Consul General Cheng stated that Canada is renowned for its open and inclusive multicultural society. While making significant contributions to the local economic and social development, both the Chinese and Indian communities have remained committed to preserving and promoting their rich and diverse cultural heritages. This event provides a valuable platform for people of different cultural backgrounds to communicate and interact, and is expected to play a positive role in enhancing relations between countries. Deputy Consul General Cheng emphasized that recent high-level exchanges and interactions across various fields between China and Canada have shown positive momentum. As the two countries mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of their strategic partnership, it is hoped that people from all sectors in the consular district will take concrete actions to promote China-Canada exchanges, deepen mutual understanding and trust, and strengthen people-to-people ties.

The Carabram Festival is a flagship cultural event in Brampton, with the Brampton Chinese Business Association having organized the China Pavilion for several consecutive years. This year, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India, the China and India Pavilions were jointly launched for the first time. The joint pavilion features exhibits of traditional Chinese and Indian clothing, handicrafts, and specialty food stalls, showcasing the rich and diverse cultural charm of the Asian communities.
