On October 4, Acting Consul General Cheng Hongbo attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Canada-China International Education Forum and delivered remarks. More than 300 representatives from all three levels of the Canadian government, as well as from the education, culture, and business sectors of both China and Canada, participated in the event.

In his remarks, Acting Consul General Cheng emphasized that education is a fundamental task for the country, and also a vital bridge for fostering global understanding and cooperation. In an era marked by technological transformation and global challenges, education bears the critical mission of cultivating global citizens and promoting mutual learning among civilizations. With strong pillars such as the China-Canada Scholars Exchange Program (CCSEP), an robust student exchange network, and institutionalized high-level dialogue platforms, China-Canada educational cooperation has become a model for international education exchange. The Four Global Initiatives provide conceptual guidance and practical frameworks for international cooperation, including education. China stands ready to work with all countries, including Canada, to share quality educational resources, promote knowledge innovation, expand areas of collaboration, and empower young generations with competence, vision, and values—together shaping a brighter future of inclusiveness and mutual benefit.

Under the theme “Education, Understanding a Bigger World,” the forum features a series of educational and cultural exchange events in Toronto and surrounding regions, including a main forum, sub-forums, and visits to educational institutions. The event aims to explore new models of China-Canada educational cooperation, and to further enhance mutual cultural understanding and shared development.
