Acting Consul General Cheng Hongbo Delivered Remarks on the 2025 Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards Gala
On April 12, Mr. Cheng Hongbo, Acting Consul General of PRC in Toronto, attended the 2025 Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards Gala hosted by the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE) and delivered remarks. Nearly a thousand attendees participated in the event, including representatives from three level governments, members from local businesses and community organizations.

The acting Consul General extended congratulations to all the award winners and commended ACCE for its longstanding efforts in supporting Chinese Canadians in entrepreneurship and development, serving the local community, and promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and Canada.
In his remarks, Mr. Cheng outlined the Chinese government's position on the recent tariff abuse initiated by the United States. The U.S. actions severely undermine the international trade system centered on the World Trade Organization (WTO) and based on rules, and seriously disrupt the stability of global supply chains and the international economic order. He emphasized that trade wars have no winners, protectionism offers no solution, and threats and pressure are not the correct way to engage with China. China remains open to consultations with the U.S., and the U.S. should, on the basis of mutual respect, work with China to properly resolve differences through equal dialogue.
Mr. Cheng stated that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as the 20th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries, making it a year of special significance. China and Canada have highly complementary economies and both prioritize market diversification which present great potential for deepening economic and trade cooperation. He encourages the business communities to continue to uphold the entrepreneurial spirit of pragmatism, and partnership making efforts to enhance China-Canada economic and trade cooperation and exchanges across various fields.
