On May 30, Consul General Luo Weidong was invited to attend the Eye-dotting Ceremony of the 37th Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival and delivered a speech. About 60 people attended the ceremony, including Ontario Government Representative, representatives of the China National Tourist Office in Toronto, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Toronto, the Toronto Chinese Business Association (TCBA), the media and other representatives.

Consul General Luo said that the Dragon Boat Festival is the first festival in China to be selected as a world intangible cultural heritage. Dragon boat racing, as its iconic folk activity, demonstrates the spirit of unity, cooperation, hard work and progress. For more than 30 years, the Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival has enabled tens of thousands of people to experience the charm of Chinese culture and showcase the cultural diversity of Canada. This is inseparable from the continuous efforts of the TCBA and all sectors of the local society for many years.

The Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival was founded by the TCBA in 1989. The 37th Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival will be held on the Toronto Centre Island from June 14 to 15 this year. It is expected that more than 100 dragon boat teams from all over the world will participate.
