The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto held the event “Educational Exchanges between China and Canada —from Early Graduates to Outgoing Students” at York University on July 4, 2025. Consul General LUO Weidong delivered a speech and Counsellor LI Renzhu hosted the event.
Consul General Luo said that this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 20th anniversary of strategic partnership between China and Canada. Looking back on the development of China-Canada relations, the two countries have broad space for cooperation; bilateral cooperation and exchanges in the field of education have achieved fruitful results, covering different levels such as government agreements, institutional projects and wide-ranging fields including student exchanges, scientific research cooperation, joint schooling; strengthening educational exchanges will not only empower the personal growth of young students, but also enhance the understanding and friendship between the two peoples, and bring mutual respect and predictable expectations to the international community.
York University Provost and Vice President Academic Dr. Philipps thanked the Consulate General for hosting this important event at the university and encouraged more Canadian youths to participate in China-Canada educational exchanges. Alumni of Chinese institutions spanning over decades have shared the positive role of their learning experience in their life and career development, and new students to China expressed their expectations for studying in China.
