China's Tibet
2003-11-10 00:00

Tibet has been an inalienable part of China's territory since the 13th century. With its enchanting natural beauty, time-honored history and fascinating cultural traditions, Tibet is a shining pearl on the splendid land of China.  Historically, Tibet was a society of feudal serfdom.  Thanks to the Democratic Reform in 1959, more than one million serfs and slaves were emancipated.  A completely new chapter has since been written in the history of Tibet.

Over the past 50 years and more, the Chinese Government has attached great importance to preserving and developing Tibetan culture and made great efforts to promote its economic and social development.  The Tibetan people have, as a member of the Chinese nation, devoted themselves to the development of both Tibet and the nation and have scored great achievements.
